Forever Chemicals

Forever chemicals, also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), are a group of more than 9,000 compounds introduced by manufacturers in the 1940s. These chemicals are engineered to be strong, with a durable carbon-fluorine chemical bond. Their persistence in the environment has earned them the nickname “forever chemicals” because they do not break down easily.
